Google switches its AI science tool to the newest Gemini model by default

Google has made Gemini 4 Argon the default model for new AlphaEvolve experiments, replacing Gemini 3.8 Flash from 26 October. Experiments that do not name a model now run on Argon automatically, and are billed accordingly.
